People often ask me why I like photographing families. "Isn't it hard?", they ask? "How do you get the kids to smile?" "I could never have the patience for that!,'' they say. For me- it's all about capturing the spirit and collective personality of each family. I don't want to mold anyone into what I imagine to be the best idea for their family- I spend a lot of time observing a families dynamic and interactions to see what would work best for them. In my eyes, there is no perfect pose to strive for- no right, no wrong. It gets as specific as asking myself, 'Is this a standing family or sitting family?' or, 'A giggling or smiling family?'. These things matter because when you (my client) looks at the image hanging on the wall everyday when you get home, I want you to think, "That is so US!".
Now to this adorable family session below. This works in so many ways. It was a great location, the family was perfectly styled (complimentary ((not matching)) bright, fun colors) and two teeny little puppies. The girls were able to run and explore between poses, which helps to alleviate any frustration young ones get when doing anything for too long. As you can see below, my favorite images are the ones that show big laughs and lots of love. When I have children, that is how I will want to see them. :)
Now show this family some love in the comments below!
