My interactions with Lisa were very exciting from the beginning. Hushed phone calls from the back of the house, letting me into her plans to surprise her wife Krista with a beautiful renewal ceremony on their trip to wine country. Lisa and Krista were among the first same-sex couples to be wed in New Mexico last August, making history in the state. They were both in Santa Fe for work when the announcement was made, and raced over during lunch to be wed. As you can imagine, it was no fancy affair, and this remains the only photograph from that day of them.
So, a few months later when they planned a trip with two friends to Calistoga, Lisa decided it was time to have a proper ceremony with images that they can treasure forever. They stayed at the charming Chateau Da Vie in Calisoga, where they also held the surprise ceremony. It was super fun to arrive in secret, check in with the owner of the B&B and the officiant, and then wait out back for Lisa to surprise Krista. It's love like this that makes me tear-up during the ceremony. Congratulations to Lisa & Krista!
